I’ve always been forward-thinking.
According to Gallup Clifton Strengths, my #1 Talent is Futuristic.
I love to imagine what’s possible in the future, create a clear vision for it, and get busy achieving it.
But, as someone who focuses a lot of energy on the future, I sometimes miss the beauty of the present moment.
And, if I attach too much of myself to a future outcome, I can be easily blindsided when something doesn’t go according to plan.
The events that unfolded earlier this week remind me no matter what you envision 5 years from now, 5 weeks from now, or even 5 hours from now can change in an instant.
ON January 2nd, 2023…
- Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest from a tackle
- My brother was admitted to the ER from a choking incident
- An old acquaintance was injured and airlifted from a motorcycle accident
3 lives changed in an instant and when it was least expected.
Life happens in the present moment.
The vision you have for tomorrow is never guaranteed.
If you tend to put things off to another day – – –
Ask yourself: What’s one step I can take to stop procrastinating?
If you race from one goal to the next without taking a breath – – –
Ask yourself: What’s one way to celebrate what I have already accomplished?
If you keep deferring your happiness until something is accomplished in the future – – –
Ask yourself: What’s one thing I can do today to make my heart smile?
Change can happen to us in an instant.
OR,
We can lead change on our terms, this instant.
Let me know the changes you lead this week.
Xo,
Alyson
