For 20 years I grew my career without realizing I eroded my self-worth.
20 years of the corporate hustle inevitably left me like this:
– Measuring my importance by my title.
– Freaking out over the smallest mistakes.
– Watering down my ideas for fear of being rejected.
– Responding to negative feedback with anger or embarrassment.
– Staying quiet when I wanted to speak up.
My confidence was reinforced by the way people perceived me.
As long as people thought highly of me, I thought highly of myself.
As a result, I – – –
Treaded carefully through conversations,
Aimed for constant perfection, and
Accommodated others even at the cost of myself.
I was winning at my career, but something felt empty.
That’s when I took a step back and realized –
I was trying to win in a VERY SMALL GAME.
A game where I advanced by abandoning myself.
The moment I stopped playing by those rules, I changed the game completely.
Today, I play whole-heartedly in a much bigger game.
These are the new rules:
1 Finding my power and worth through purpose.
2 Shrugging off little mistakes and learning from the big ones.
3 Sharing my ideas and passion with others, daily.
4 Responding to negativity with curiosity.
5 Speaking up as a voice of change.
Do you want to test these rules for yourself?
Here’s a worksheet you can download to help you do that.
Remember this – – –
If you don’t like the game you are playing, you have the power to create a new one.
Elevate your power by elevating the game, and you will start winning on a whole new level.
